Court of The Boy-King Yazdegerd III: The Nadir of the Sasanian Empire

The year is 632. The King is dead; the new King is a mere boy, of eight years old. The court is in disarray and a new set of advisors is required to lead the Kingdom out of its darkest hour. Nothing is set in stone-advisors will be picked for positions on the basis of their vision for the Empire. The court positions will go to the deserving.

The three executives envisage a Game of Thrones: Persia style committee. Delegates will not be given positions before committee. They will be given families and personalities, and will fight for the positions they believe they are best suited for. This committee will be challenging and unconventional. Ready yourselves; a hard Summer is Coming.

Committee Interview

Chair - Apratim Gautam

Fourth year, Apratim Gautam is a political science and economics double major, originally hailing from foggy London town, hence his humorous accent. Apratim can usually be found in the ChoMUN office as he is one of Head Delegates for UChicago’s successful travelling team, staffed ChoMUN four times as well as UChicago’s high school conference, MUNUC, four times. Apratim spends so much time in the ChoMUN office he actually has a bed in there. On the off chance that you don’t find him in the ChoMUN office, you’ll find him in the local pub, screaming pointlessly at a television for his beloved Arsenal. It is said that Apratim has a passion for Arsenal that rivals that of Miley Cyrus’s love for twerking. Apratim is very excited to be chairing this committee in his very last ChoMUN and believes it will be the best conference to date.

Crisis Director - Paul Drexler

Paul Drexler hails from the home of country and moonshine, Nashville, Tennessee. When not spending time at the world renowned Tennessee State Museum, or belting out American classics, Paul is a prospective political science major and occasional Rachel Maddow impersonator. This is Paul's second ChoMUN, having worked with both Apratim and Peter on last year's successful JCC. Paul is excited to bring creativity and enthusiasm to the crisis room, and to challenge the delegates throughout. Paul also enjoys debate, long walks on the beach and his fine, Tennessee drawl. Finally, Paul hopes delegates are excited for a committee that will be far from a conventional crisis committee.

Crisis Director - Peter Erskine

Peter is a second-year in the College, majoring in Political Science. He is a relationships-kind-of-guy, a personality trait applicable to both his social life and his interest in International Diplomacy. His idols include some of the most esteemed diplomatic leaders of our time – John Kerry and Dennis Rodman among others. When he’s not chairing a committee for Chicago’s high school conference or traveling with Team to Model UN Conferences, Peter likes to spend his nights picking up a good book and reading underneath the stars (He is a pretty transcendent guy). Peter also holds master culinary skills, capable of making some mean baked potatoes and some delicious deep-fried Mars bars. Peter is beyond excited to lead this committee with his excellent partners, Paul and Apratim.

Note: All position papers should be emailed to the USG for this committee at registration@chomun.org.
