National Security Council of the Russian Federation

From the ashes of the Soviet Union and the tumultuous economic and political transitions of the 1990s, Vladimir Putin has led the Russian Federation to renewed power and global prominence in the 21st Century. Securing and strengthening Russia, however has been neither an easy nor a bloodless process. Putin’s Russia faces potential threats, not just from a retrenching NATO and European Union, but also from a rising China and not least from unwieldy oligarchs vying for political power and ordinary Russian citizens impatient to realize the political and economic promises of the post-Soviet transition. The National Security Council of the Russian Federation must help President Vladimir Putin chart a path to security and stability through tumultuous waters. The advisors on the National Security Council will deal with domestic and foreign crises that threaten the security and global importance of the Russian Federation, while also considering their personal security and the tumultuous internal politics of the Kremlin.
