The House of Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is responsible for representing the people of the UK and crafting legislation in matters related to involvement in international conflicts, economic and tax policy, and domestic social policy. Fresh out of the “Winter of Discontent” and the contentious election of 1978 , the Honorable Members of Parliament, formerly divided by party, must now unite to respond to issues ranging from the perils of Cold War posturing, to an economy in shambles, to rash words from The Right Honourable Baroness Thatcher, the newly-elected Prime Minister. As we gather in Westminster, we must strive to make Britain truly Great once again, and, in the words of our anthem: May just and righteous laws uphold the public cause and bless our isle, home of the brave and free, fair land and liberty.
Miriam Bial is a second year and a potential Public Policy major, primarily for the alliteration. When not answering to “Madam Speaker” she competes on the Model UN travel team and helps host MUNUC, the University of Chicago’s high school conference. Outside of Model UN, Miriam works for campus Hillel and is involved in a number of community service efforts on campus. She originally hails from New York City and will defend its clear superiority to her dying day.
Please feel free to contact her with any questions at mbial@uchicago.edu.
Hannah Brodheim is a second year double majoring in Economics and Computer Science. While ignoring her problem-sets she continues to participate in activities unrelated and potentially detrimental to her academic performance including Splash!, MUNUC, and the Model UN travel team. Hannah is originally from New York City but likes to confuse acquaintances by referencing constant cycling, hiking, and rowing adventures.
She can be reached at brodheim@uchicago.edu
Kritin Deshpande is a second year in the College, planning to double major in Economics and Public Policy (the latter for reasons beyond the alliteration, he promises). Besides helping host ChoMUN, he competes on the Model UN travel team. Outside the surreal world of Model UN, Kritin likes to spend his time working at the University's Career Advancement Office, or mentoring high school students with Moneythink, a financial literacy non-profit started at the University. He originally hails from New Delhi, India, and looks forward to serving alongside Hannah as your Crisis Director.
