"We are a people. We are a new nation. We want everyone to control their own life and to care for one another... We cannot tolerate attitudes, institutions, and machines whose purpose is the destruction of life, the accumulation of profit."
–Youth International Party’s (YIP) New Nation Statement
At this summit we have gathered representatives from organizations at the forefront of the fight for freedom from our oppressive government. We must destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying our culture and our human rights. We cannot allow repressive governments, aggressive police forces, and imperialist foreign polices that use the people as fodder for an evil government’s agenda. We must bond together as representatives from across these United States of America to find common ground in our fights and to unify to pressure and change our corrupt government. We must bring our protests to the streets, we must bring shady politicians out from their closed-door meetings, we must bring change to the status quo.
Hailing from rainy Seattle, Washington;, Anna Mather is a Second Year in the College majoring in Economics and Political Science. This year she is also the chair for IMF at MUNUC XXVII. Outside of Model UN, Anna enjoys exploring Chicago by bicycle and drinking absurd amounts of coffee. She’s extremely excited to be chairing this year for ChoMUN’s Woodstock committee.
Andrea is a third year in the college majoring in Environmental Studies. Born and raised in the Detroit suburbs, Andrea is enjoying her time living and studying in another Midwestern city. In addition to co-crisis directing for the Woodstock committee, she is the USG-ECOSOC for MUNUC XXVII. In her free time, she can be found wasting time on BuzzFeed, drinking coffee, and baking. She is excited to be working on this committee and looks forward to ChoMUN XVIII.
Freddy Tsao is a third-year in the college from Southern California majoring in Public Policy and Cinema & Media Studies. Having crisis-directed the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 committee at ChoMUN XVII, he is excited to stir up some more drama at another culturally significant event in history. When he isn't dealing with Woodstock, Freddy can also be found curating and organizing the TEDxUChicago conference on campus (more event planning!) and planning University events such as Orientation and Homecoming at the College Programming Office (see a trend here?). Be warned that his tendency to spontaneously burst into song will only be heightened during conference after many hours of listening to Woodstock playlists.
